No more white wine

I recently ran out of white wine in the cellar.  There were a few different reasons as to why it happened, but it got me thinking about making white wines in general.
My wife had been begging me to make some more white wines for about a year, but I wasn’t feeling great and I was so focused on my grape wines.  I pledged to do it last winter when the cool temperatures would be conducive to a cool fermentation, but never got around to it.  Unfortunately, I went down to the cellar and realized that I had 400 bottles of red and zero whites.  This caused a problem whenever we would have seafood.  We’ve been having Pinot Noir and my 2012 Rhode Island Cab Franc/Merlot blend with those dishes, but still felt I needed a white.   I thought about grapes, but don’t want to overload myself during the fall.  The more different grapes the more complexity and I didn’t want to deal with it.  I then thought about frozen juice from M&M.  I looked through all of their options but didn’t feel as though they had anything I wanted.  Plus, I would have had to drive all the way to Hartford to pick it up.  So, time passed and we still had no whites.  Finally, I decided to buy a couple of white kits.  Kits are really foolproof and I think they make excellent wine.  As I get more adventurous, I may try to make a white wine, but not at this time.  I chose two whites (Riesling and Chardonnay) from the new Winexpert Eclipse line.  They are the premium 16L kits and I have always found them to be excellent.  I ordered both from Southern Homebrew and even with shipping were $40 cheaper per kit than anything around here.  I’ll be making them at the later part of September, before the new grapes come in.  Looking forward to finally having a new set of whites in the cellar!
